The Restored Organization

Organizations today, more than ever, are walking the tightrope of maintaining business goals while keeping their staff engaged. On the one hand, there is competition, environmental, economic, geo-political challenges and on the other hand, there are needs and wants of a changing demographic of staff in a post-Covid world. Demanding shareholders who are looking for the quickest growth and return on investments, are at times, not fully invested in the culture of the organization. This allows for a situation where self-sabotage can and does happen often. As a result, we've seen toxic cultures emerge in organizations that have been gold stars for staff engagement and welfare, e.g. Boeing, Amazon, Tik-Tok amongst many others. How did this happen under the watch of the most experienced leaders in these organizations? The reality is that what these organizations are facing is not uncommon. We might have experienced some level of toxicity in our career somewhere, like disrespect, lack of empathy, verbal or mental abuse. We may think that it’s a rarity, but it’s actually not.According to the 2024 Gallup State of the Global Workplace, found 62% of employees not engaged, often referred to as "quiet quitting," and 15% actively disengaged, known as "loud quitting." According to Gallup’s data, only 23% of employees are truly engaged in their work. The report goes on to highlight that “these employees are filling a seat and watching the clock…they are psychologically disconnected from their employer”. Gallup goes on to estimate that low engagement costs the global economy US$8.8 trillion and accounts for 9% of global GDP.

The goal of The Restored Organization is to create a movement to bring together leaders, HR professionals, OD practitioners and others who are passionate about making work more meaningful and workplaces more engaging for all. With the increase of toxicity in organizations and the evolution of AI, there is no better time than now to be actively involved in this movement.

How it all started ...
In 2022 two friends and ex-colleagues, Nitin Goil and Sebastian Anthony, both seasoned leadership and OD professionals, spoke more in details over coffee about how they both left organizations ‘bruised’ by the experiences of their immediate bosses or the toxic company culture they were part of. And how that negatively affected their overall well being and morale. Both Nitin and Sebastian realized that something drastic needed to be done to change this in organizations and they wanted to make a positive impact. This is where The Restored Organization was conceptualized and for both Nitin and Sebastian, their purpose became clear. Through this, they want to enable positive change in organizations by humanizing workplaces and helping transform results.Since then, they've been busy doing research on this, speaking with many leaders and organizations globally, and are looking to build and propel this movement forward.
